TSA Agents Suspended for Hanging A Gorilla in A Noose

Two TSA agents have been placed on administrative leave after an “offensive display” was uncovered by staff members at Miami International Airport (MIA) on July 21st. A description of the display hasn’t been made public, but it was said to be comprised of two stuffed gorillas suspended from a noose.

Two U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents have been placed on administrative leave after an “offensive display” was reported in a luggage screening area at Miami International Airport (MIA) on July 21st, Reuters reports. While a description of the display was not given by the TSA itself, an unidentified employee of the administration described it to CNN as being comprised of two toy gorillas suspended from a noose which had been placed on a pole.

The display was reportedly uncovered by three staff members, who then brought it to the attention of their manager. According to one unidentified employee, this manager, “tried to downplay the noose and gorilla display, saying it wasn’t racist, it was just a joke.

The display has been taken down and an investigation into the incident is underway.

In a statement quoted by Reuters, Jenny Burke, a TSA spokeswoman, said, “TSA does not tolerate racist or offensive behavior and those found responsible will be held accountable for their actions. Two TSA officers have been placed on administrative leave while the investigation is ongoing.

Explain the joke? I'll use a phrase from radio days past: "T'ain't funny, McGee."
