Is the Hotel Ice Bucket Making You Sick?

After an investigation, Public health inspectors in St. Paul and Minneapolis have concluded that hotel ice machines can be a Petri dish of bacteria and slime when not cleaned thoroughly and properly. According to the report, guests could easily become sick from, for example, the ice machines at the Minneapolis Sheraton Midtown, which contained “pink slime build-up in the interiors of all ice machines.”

It's not the ice bucket as much as the ice machines that will get you sick. Often the toilets at a restaurant are cleaner than the ice machines.
