Intoxicated Crew Members Delay Flight by 5 Hours
An airBaltic flight to Crete was delayed by nearly five hours Saturday after four crew members were removed from the aircraft due to “suspicion for alcohol abuse.” According to the airline, of the five crew members onboard, the pilot, co-pilot and two flight attendants of airBaltic Flight 7843 were arrested by police in Oslo, Norway.
“Results of the breathalyzer tests confirmed that four of the five crew members … were above the legal alcohol limit,” said Edith Ek Sorensen, a Norwegian prosecutor.
AirBaltic has since apologized to passengers and thanked police for their assistance. In a statement on it’s website, the Latvian flag carrier stressed that it has a “zero tolerance” alcohol policy.
