International Airlines Divert Flights Over Potential Syria Conflict

On Tuesday, Eurocontrol released a rapid alert notification due to the threat of missiles in Syrian airspace due to geopolitical tensions, and a number of international airlines, including Air France and easyJet, altered routes away from the nation.

“Due to the possible launch of airstrikes into Syria with air-to-ground and/or cruise missiles within the next 72 hours, and the possibility of intermittent disruption of radio navigation equipment, due consideration needs to be taken when planning flight operations in the Eastern Mediterranean/Nicosia FIR area,” read the alert from Eurocontrol.
