Indian Carriers Experience Alarming Rate of Engine Failure

As of August of this year, up to 15 commercial passenger jets operated by Indian carriers have experienced midflight engine malfunctions according to numbers compiled by India’s civil aviation authority. This marks the highest rate of engine malfunctions in six years for Indian carriers.

A senior aviation official assured that the Indian aviation industry is “seriously looking into all the aspects of air safety.”

Indians have definitely not heard of proper maintenance and inspection. I say this being Indian and seeing how things are never maintained or inspected correctly in anything. Why do you think we like Toyotas and Hondas? Less maintenance and inspection (or at least doesn't break when you don't). This is quite alarming though as I thought the incompetence was only in the FAs and other infrastructure. If the planes are unsafe, that's a much bigger issue.
