In Brief: Security Mistakes Passenger’s Pudding for Plastic Explosives
One man’s pudding is another man’s plastic explosives — or at least that was the case when security staff at Newcastle Airport (NCL) recently found six tubs of pease pudding in a 58-year-old’s carry-on luggage and mistook it for Semtex.
In reference to the mix-up, the unnamed easyJet flyer explained that he loved the customary British dish. The traveler says he thought security officers’ argument that his pudding resembled plastic explosives was a bit of a stretch, especially considering the “pease pudding” labels on the containers.
No charges were filed, but the traveler was advised to pack the pudding in checked luggage the next time he planned on flying with it.
