In Brief: Courtey Love Taken “Hostage” by Paris Taxi Drivers in Anti-Uber Protest
American singer-songwriter Courtney Love was caught in the midst of a violent anti-Uber protest upon arriving in Paris Thursday morning, where an estimated 2,800 taxi drivers blocked traffic to the city’s airports and public transit stations. Love took to Twitter to express her terror as she drove away from the airport.
they've ambushed our car and are holding our driver hostage. they're beating the cars with metal bats. this is France?? I'm safer in Baghdad

paid some guys on motorcycles to sneak us out, got chased by a mob of taxi drivers who threw rocks, passed two police and they did nothing

The French taxi drivers were protesting UberPOP, a version of U.S. ride-sharing service Uber, which gives travelers a cheaper alternative to cabs. Love was eventually able to escape the situation, tweeting:
we got out after being held hostage for an hour thanks to these two guys. I'm scared out of my wits.… https://t.co/cAOELz463U
