In Brief: Chris Evans Was Left Stranded at a French Airport Thanks to British Airways

BBC radio personality Chris Evans took his frustrations to Twitter on Monday, claiming he was left stranded in France thanks to British Airways. Despite the fact that Evans had a ticket in hand when he showed up for his flight from Nice, airline representatives told him the flight was full and barred him from boarding. Below are just a few of the tweets that followed.

British Airways swiftly replied to Evans’ tweets in an effort to clear up the matter at hand. The airline also issued a statement apologizing for the incident, a portion of which read: “Like all major airlines, we overbook a number of our flights in order to keep fares low. Customers are usually unaware but on this occasion we’re sorry that we were not able to seat everybody on the flight.”

nice to read about you american idiots missing the point... Chris Evens is quite possibly the BIGGEST radio presenter in the UK. And as the BBC have the vast majority of the whole countries radio listeners, F'ing off the most influential radio presenter in BA's home market.. NOW anyone can see this is a massive PR fail. Radio in the UK is NOT the same as the fragmented radio provides across the US. Forget about compensation. This will cost BA millions.

WHAT?? Airlines overbook because passengers 'no-show'?? Everybody, please please put on your surprised face! We only have part of the story. When did Mr Evans show up at the gate? After the cutoff time? We simply don't know. Who is Mr Evans? This Yank has no idea. (Oh, right, the BBC! I'm impressed! ) If this happened to me, and I went ape-$#!T wild on twitter, it would not make it in the media. Agree with UncleDude, Another DYKWIA Non-Story.

So they make it standard practice to sell more than they have and just hope nobody notices because some people don't turn up. Sounds awfully similar to a Ponzi scheme: take everybody's money, claim to be getting more back from it than you are, and hope some people never ask for it back.

Below are just a few of the tweets that followed. Something is wrong with the above statement. How can he be left STRANDED IN FRANCE when he shows up for a British Airways flight TO NICE? British Airways dont have any French Domestic Services. Suspect the true facts are he arrived late for Conformance at Heathrow and was denied entry into Security…Happens to Hundreds every day.
