In Brief: Chicago Mayor Floats Idea of Renaming Airport After Obama, Quickly Backtracks

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel inadvertently hinted at the possibility of renaming several Chicago establishments, including O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and Midway International Airport (MDW), during a forum on Wednesday at Chicago State University. Emanuel reportedly suggested that the city should dedicate more establishments to acknowledging individuals who have made significant accomplishments.

Specifically, Emanuel mentioned U.S. President Barack Obama, likening him to Edward “Butch” O’Hare, a highly-regarded WWII pilot for whom one of Chicago’s airports derives its name. Mayoral spokeswoman Kelly Quinn later stated Emanuel has no intentions of renaming ORD or MDW, not after Obama nor anyone else.

Yes, I named lots of things after Ronnie. "It's ok to pick your nose but don't eat your Reagans." And "I'm going to the bathroom. It's not a number one. It's a Reagan."
