In Brief: Austrian Baker Sparks Outrage With Cake Depicting 9/11 Terrorist Attacks

An Austrian baker is making headlines after making a cake depicting the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Thomas Kienbauer claims his controversial cake is a metaphor for Vienna’s current political situation, with the planes crashing into Twin Towers representing the fringe parties he supports. The Towers themselves also have their own meanings — one representing  Austria’s Social Democrats and the other representing the People’s Party.

This is not very nice for the people who lost their father, mother, husband, sister or child in this brutal attack. It seems like the baker made it with pride and is now smiling at the picture. I guess he is not thinking what this is doing with the 'memorial'. A guy like this just has to be avoided by the media. Let him eat the cake all by himself. Its a disrespectful creation indeed. The most insulting thing to me is the "memorial"...with its gift shop where you then have tourists all over Manhattan wearing 9/11 hats and shirts.

Perhaps a NYC baker could return the favor and depict "der anschluss" in cake form.

I lost my uncle that day and I must say this guy is a moron. I am speechless and outraged by his utter disrespectful creation.
