In Brief: 800+ Flights Canceled at DFW on Thursday Due to Winter Storm

Upwards of 800 flights at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) were canceled on Thursday due to winter weather. DFW and surrounding areas received between 3 and 7 inches of snow overnight, prompting widespread delays and cancellations, the bulk of which were posted by American Airlines and Southwest Airlines.

The number of delays and cancellations is expected to increase, but DFW spokesman David Magana  says crews are working to de-ice aircraft and keep runways clear, explaining earlier in the day: “Snowplow crews are continuing to work on ramps and taxiways as well as additional runways to increase the airport’s capacity for flights.”
