IHG Now Has 5,000 Hotels

With the debut of its Hotel Indigo Lower East Side New York today, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has hit a milestone, as it can now say it’s opened 5,000 hotels. Since it became an independent company in December 2003, the company has opened properties in 100 countries and gained 90 million rewards members.

“It demonstrates the scale of the business and the organic growth we’ve had,” said IHG CEO Richard Solomons. The reported growth is most apparent in properties domestically, as well as in the U.K., China, and the Middle East.
