IATA Warns of Bangkok Airport’s Safety Risks

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has issued a statement that Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) poses serious safety hazards to passengers, crew and aircraft, including overcrowding and cut-rate material used for runways, taxiways and apron areas. This statement comes on the heels of Thailand’s downgrading by the U.N.’s International Civil Aviation Authority (ICAO) in 2015 when the country was given a red flag for failing to meet safety deadlines. Earlier this week, Thailand’s civil aviation authority reported that a review by ICAO was likely going to be delayed until early 2017 due to more time needed for expansion and adherence to safety standards.

This airport was opened when that crook Thaksin was PM. He ran the country as if it were Nigeria, and his family and corrupt cronies all got a big piece of the national cake.
