IHG PointBreaks Releases New List of 170 Discounted Properties

It’s almost May, which means the new list of IHG PointBreaks hotels is available for bookings for stays through July 31.

You might remember that three months ago the IHG Rewards program changed its PointBreaks pricing from 5,000 points per night to 5,000, 10,000 and 15,000 points per night, depending on the property. With it, the group also increased the number of discounted properties you can book. You also can use a combination of cash and points to cover any of these stays.

The new list includes 170 hotels total, of which 120 are located in the United States and 50 are international properties. More than half of the hotels, or 56 percent, on this quarter’s PointBreaks list belongs to the 10,000-point group. However, only 15 percent of discounted properties require the fewest points per night, and 29 percent require 15,000 points.

InterContinental hotels are the most sought out properties, and the list includes just four InterContinentals located in Costa Rica, Oman, Saudi Arabia and South Africa.

Some hotels of interest include the Holiday Inn Almaty in Kazakhstan. This property typically requires 15,000 IHG Rewards points per night, and you’ll redeem just 5,000 points per night for stays during the promo period.

A standard room at the Holiday Inn Cartagena Morros usually goes for 25,000 points, and now it’s just 10,000 points. So, if you have added Colombia to your summer travel plans, this beachfront property is a great option.

For those who prefer to vacation in the U.S., the Hotel Indigo Austin Downtown – University is another good choice. Standard rooms here go for 40,000 points, but you can book discounted nights here for 15,000 points each.

Please note that participating hotels are subject to change at any time, depending on how quickly the rooms are booked. IHG members are limited to two reservations at each hotel, based on availability, but blackout dates do not apply, and you can book some of these properties for a July 4 getaway.
