Holidays Set to Make Airlines A Lot of Money This Year

Courtesy of a growing economy and reduced fare prices, the winter holidays are slated to be a profitable time for domestic airlines, according to Airlines for America. The trade group reports that the carriers are expected to serve 38 million passengers this season, a 3 percent increase from a year ago. Compared to last year, from Dec. 18 to Jan. 3, 73,000 more travelers are expected to be flying each day.

John Heimlich, Airlines for America’s chief economist said, “U.S. airlines are well-positioned to serve the higher demand by adding flights and seats, deploying new and larger aircraft and boosting staffing.”
