‘Hole’ in Runway Caused Delays at London City Airport

Multiple flights were delayed and cancelled Tuesday at London City Airport (LCY) after what social media users claimed to be a “hole” was found on the runway. Engineers worked quickly to repair the issue – which officials labeled as more of a stress fracture, not a pothole – and flights resumed around midday.

In a statement, an airport spokesman said the hole was a surface problem and advised passengers to check with their airline regarding the status of their flights. “We apologize for any inconvenience caused,” he said.
