Job-Seeking Veterans Get a Helping Hand From Hilton

03job

Hilton Hotels is offering eligible veterans looking for work up to four free nights’ worth of rewards points.

As part of Hilton Worldwide’s existing Operation: Opportunity program that provide support to veterans and their families, the company is donating millions of Hilton HHonors points to job-seeking veterans. The initiative launched in Pennsylvania on Monday after state officials heard about the offering in other states.

Now, any U.S. veteran who is interviewing for a job, undergoing training for a new job or relocating for a new position is eligible to receive 100,000 Hilton HHonors points per calendar year. The points convert into about three or four nights of free stays at any Hilton hotel in the continental U.S., Alaska and Hawaii.

Hilton has partnered with the National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA) to implement the program. NASWA is responsible for distributing the HHonors points to different state workforce agencies, which then distribute free nights to veterans through American Job Center (AJC) facilities.

Pennsylvania has roughly 400,000 military veterans that could find assistance through this program and cut their job-hunting costs substantially. The program is available to all veterans — including National Guard and Reserve — as well as their spouses.

In addition to HHonors points, Operation: Opportunity also provides special military rates for leisure stays, a career website specifically for veterans, a resource group dedicated to assisting veterans employed by Hilton, and an awareness campaign aimed at showing veterans that Hilton is looking to hire employees with their specific skillsets. Hilton Worldwide made a commitment in 2013 to hire 10,000 veterans before 2018.

Veterans looking to take advantage of Operation: Opportunity should contact their local AJC.
