Heidi Klum Teases Nicole Richie About Her…Intense Plane Cleaning Routine

We all know that airplane seats are pretty gross and dirty, but some celebrities go to nearly ridiculous lengths to clean every inch of their seat before the sit down on it – including using rubber gloves, sanitizing wipes, medical masks, and custom airplane seat covers to keep the potential germs away.

As news of dirty airplane seats is going viral on social media, celebrities are showing off how they keep themselves clean and healthy while flying. Heidi Klum recently shared a video on Instagram of Nicole Richie’s pre-flight cleaning routine. The video shows her vigorously scrubbing the seat with sanitizing wipes while wearing rubber gloves.

“I thought only Naomi Campbell was the nut job but nein, Ms. Richie is just as f—— nuts,” Klum said in her Instagram post. “What’s wrong with you girls?”

Richie also uses a custom blanket to cover her plane seat. Naomi Campbell has a similar routine, using sanitizing wipes and gloves to clean every single thing around her seat. She documented the process on her YouTube page.

“Clean anything you touch. Anything you could possibly touch,” she said in the video. “This is what I do on every plane I get on. I do not care what people think of me. It’s my health and it makes me feel better.”

Campbell also uses a custom seat cover but takes it even further by wearing a medical mask throughout her flights.

“I will eventually end up sitting like this the whole entire flight,” she said in the video. ”As the plane descends people start coughing and sneezing and the coughing and sneezing makes me…I just can’t.”

I just wear a chemical suit when flying BA.....it avoids the restrictive liquids ban!🙂

I have been thinking of bringing a surgical mask and gloves with me, but not for cleaning. A few times people who are obviously very sick (coughing, sneezing, vomiting, all before takeoff) have come on the plane and sat next to me. Seems like a good idea to be prepared to glove up and mask up when it happens.

These ladies are on to something. Think if they sold little kits with a 8 gloves and cleaning wipes along with nice masks and a seat covers at the airports? Any entrepreneurs out there?
