Hazmat Airport Style: Coronavirus Culture’s Statement Piece

airport style

Coronavirus culture’s hottest new travel look is: hazmat suit.

Supermodel Naomi Campbell recently brought that look to the runway when she posted photos of herself at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on Tuesday, March 10th while wearing a white hazmat onesie paired with clear goggles, a green airport mask, and pink latex gloves topped with a chic brown cape.

Statement Pieces

While Naomi Campbell has made staying very clean while flying part of her brand–if you haven’t seen her viral scrub down in first class then you really should–at least one other non-famous traveler also donned a hazmat suit to make a statement.
Last Saturday, a Milwaukee man was photographed at General Mitchell International Airport in a yellow hazmat suit to take a flight to Fort Myers. He donned the protective gear, he explained, because he has Crohn’s disease and is worried about the impact of the novel coronavirus on his immune system.

Still a Milwaukee man arrived at the airport in a full hazmat suit and took a flight to Fort Myers on Saturday. The man explained that he has Crohn’s disease and worries about the impact of the virus on his immune system.

He also said that he already had the hazmat suit handy because he dressed as Walter White from Breaking Bad for Halloween. “I also want to raise awareness and try to put a smile on people’s faces at the same time,” he told Fox 6, adding, “I do feel I was better protected than I would have been in regular clothes, but also understand it was probably a little over the top.”

Well naturally when I see someone in a Hazmat suit I know it brings a smile to my face so this guy sounds legit. A good hearty chuckle, fun for the whole family as I try to explain to my already freaked out five year old why there is a space man in the airport. People like this who claim to be making a statement really ought to double check on exactly what statement it is they are making and about whom. If I took health advice from Naomi I think I would walk into oncoming traffic to avoid embarrassment from actual authorities on the subject matter.

Don't they have to strip down for the TSA inspection? You're not even allowed to keep your jacket on.
