Golfer’s Family Takes a Swing at Air Canada for Stolen Clubs

Custom golf clubs worth $5,000 belonging to Queen’s University of Charlotte student Sydney Lia were allegedly misplaced on an Air Canada flight to Toronto, prompting a strong response from Lia’s family, who called Air Canada’s customer service in relation to the lost clubs “below par.”

The airline had allegedly informed her before her flight that the clubs couldn’t be allowed in the cargo hold due to the plane being overweight. Air Canada reportedly promised Lia that they would be shipped aboard the next flight.

The clubs later resurfaced in a newspaper ad that offered them for sale, which led to the arrest of a 38-year-old man for theft.

So...the seller "has no connection with the airline", which begs the question, how did he get ahold of them?

Good to know. Air Canada lost my luggage 7 years ago from Geneva to New York. It was never found. I had $4,000 worth of things in it. Probably stolen as the bag was super large. Lot's of goodies to sell. Air Canada offered a measly $1,100. Had to sue them in Small Claims Court. Max legal amount for compensation though I believe was $1,700.
