GLA to Institute Drop-Off Fee for Flyers Arriving by Car

Starting at the end of April, Glasgow Airport (GLA) plans to introduce a £2 drop-off fee for flyers arriving to the airport by automobile. The charge will apply to customers who stay at the curb for longer than 10 minutes, and the drop-off area is slated to move to a new location across from the airport terminal.

Amanda McMillan, managing director for GLA said, “In addition to addressing the very real issue of congestion, it [the new fee] will allow us to accommodate the marked increase in vehicles now using our road system.”

EDI had a similar fee two years ago when I flew through the airport.

It doesn't say in the article how far from the airport terminal the new "drop off area" will be. That could be another new source of income....Pay to take a shuttle from the new "drop off area" to the terminal.

How does the fee help the airport "accommodate the marked the increase in vehicles now using our road system"? How will the collected fees be spent? More roadway lanes? How? I would help out by boycotting GLA. No cars solves the problem!
