Air Authority Ignored Report of Radical Employee

A hardline Isalmist airport cleaner known to the authorities as Recep Ü was given access to major German airports’ most vulnerable security areas for nearly a year after authorities informed an airport safety watchdog of the cleaner’s ties to radical beliefs, according to a new report in Berlin Morgenpost. The cleaner was fired in October 2015 after four years of employment with airport operator FBB, but the termination was due to an attempt to sneak brass knuckles through a security checkpoint at Berlin Schönefeld Airport (SXF). Recep Ü was apprehended by authorities during the attempt.
