Fourth Botched Landing at Seattle

December 19 marked the fourth mishap of its kind for Seattle-Tacoma International Airport when a pilot for Alaska Airlines accidentally landed a Boeing 737 on a taxiway instead of a runway.

This is the fourth such incident for the airport, dating back to the 1990s, and each mishap has narrowly avoided disaster for passengers and crew. In response to this fourth such mistake, Alaska Airlines and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are investigating conditions that have caused the fourth mistake of this kind.

Fortunately, no other aircraft or vehicles were parked on the taxiway at the time of landing, and no injuries have been reported.

Narrowly? It wasn't even close to a disaster. It could have been, but thankfully it was not.
