Fog Sabotages 17 Seattle Flights

A thick Seattle fog disrupted 17 flights on Saturday, forcing the aircraft to land preemptively. Most passengers were stranded on the tarmac at Portland International Airport, and some were diverted to  for several hours — just miles from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

Additionally, American Flight 1623 had difficulty with fuel, stopping for refueling and accidentally over-fueling, leading to the plane being weighed down too much to fly. Passengers were given the option of disembarking at BFI for other flights or remaining and waiting for the plane to get back in the air.
