Flyer Trips Over Sleeping Flight Attendant, Blames Crew Member for Injuries, Broken Nose & Scooter Confinement

A British Airways flyer alleges a dozing flight attendant is responsible for breaking her nose and confining her to a scooter.

A U.K. woman claims a sleeping flight attendant caused her to break her nose on a British Airways flight in November 2012. DailyMail reports Shaunna Baynes, 42, was returning to London from a vacation in Memphis, Tenn. Seated in business class, Baynes claims she tripped over a flight attendant sleeping across the aisle while walking to the lavatory, causing her to break her nose, bruise her arm and injure her hip.

“He was sleeping there. His whole body was lying right across the aisle,” said Baynes. “I dread to think [what would have happened] if it had been an elderly person who tripped.”

Bayes, who claims to suffer from osteoporosis and a number of other medical conditions, says excessive pain confined her to a scooter during her recovery period. Although she hired an attorney to recover damages from the airline, her claim for compensation missed the two-year limitation.

“Mrs. Baynes, all along, all she ever really wanted was an apology from [British Airways],” said Baynes’ attorney, Peter Cornish. Baynes claims that she will never fly with the airline again after the incident.

The $3,000 claim was ultimately paid by Baynes’ attorney, due to the error in missing the deadline. A representative for British Airways told DailyMail: “We are sorry that [Baynes] hurt herself during one of our flights. We investigated the claims and could find no evidence to support them.”

Hmmm. And where the article says it was MEM-LHR flight? It says she was flying from vacation in Memphis back to London, but it DOES NOT say anything about a particular flight...

The Daily Mail never let facts get in the way of a "story"
