Flight Equipment Malfunction Diverts Logan Flight

An American Airlines flight from Boston to Miami experienced an unidentified technical malfunction half an hour after takeoff. Passengers and crew flew into a panic as two loud bangs sounded and smoke filled the cabin of Flight 1086. Drew Nederpelt, a Miami businessman who was aboard the flight, said: “The plane started to shake and rattle, and people really started to freak out. The first boom came about 30 minutes into the flight. There was a lot of crying and screaming. One of the flight attendants was literally shaking and sobbing.” The flight was forced to make an emergency landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), and no injuries were reported to passengers or crew. American Airlines spokesperson Matt Miller has said that the cause of the malfunction is currently under investigation.
