Flight Deals: We Spotted Half Off Fares to Sydney From the US, $750+ Roundtrip

The Sydney Opera House, the Great Barrier Reef and koalas await!

Several airlines are running a sale to Australia departing from multiple U.S. cities, including Atlanta, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Diego and Seattle. Depending on your departure point, you’ll pay $752 to $901, which is about half the regular price you would normally pay to fly to Sydney.

Depending on your departure city, you’ll fly with American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Qantas Airways, United Airlines or Virgin Australia. You can travel Down Under between August and November, with some scattered dates available in December. Of course, the later in the year you can go, the better weather you’ll encounter in the Southern Hemisphere.

I recommend using Google Flights to find your preferred travel dates, but crosscheck your results with Priceline. The online travel agency seems to have better fares for some departure cities.

Salt Lake City to Sydney

I live in Salt Lake City, and we rarely see such great deals, let alone to Australia. In most cases, I find flight deals from other cities and then book positioning flights to connect. But in this case, I don’t have to! I was able to find flights to Sydney for just $837 with one stop in each direction in November, which by far beats the typical cost of about $2,000. For that price, I don’t mind flying American Airlines one bit.

Los Angeles to Sydney

L.A. residents can fly non-stop to Sydney on Qantas for $752 by booking through Priceline. It is a great price point for a trip to the land Down Under on Australia’s flag carrier. Again, the typical price tag is easily double that amount, if not triple, so consider this a deal.

Philadelphia to Sydney

Although traveling to Sydney from Philadelphia is a bit hectic with two U.S. city layovers in each direction, it certainly is possible to do so at a discount. You’ll pay $842 per round-trip ticket on Delta Air Lines, and that’s a steal from the East Coast region! If airfare cost is the reason you haven’t been to Australia yet, this sale is a great reason to make it happen.

the statement ... "which is about half the regular price you would normally pay to fly to Sydney." is so completely wrong. There's no such thing as normal fares !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
