If you’re looking for a unique destination for New Year’s Day 2020, why not under the northern lights in Finland? FlyerTalkers found flights aboard two airline alliances departing from Seattle for under $2,500 in business class – reflecting over $1,000 in discounts from the normal price!
The battle for Seattle continues among airlines – but this time, flyers are looking for a winning premium fare deals. First discovered by PNWIslander on the FlyerTalk forums, travelers looking for a unique wintertime destination can get to Helsinki, Finland for under $2,500 aboard carriers belonging to all three airline alliances.
When we looked for flights departing Friday, Dec. 27, 2019, and returning Friday, Jan. 3, 2020 from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) to Helsinki Airport (HEL), we found three different sets of discounted business class prices. The oneworld route runs from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to London Heathrow Airport (LHR), then on to Helsinki on Finnair after a two-hour layover for $2,455 round trip.
With SkyTeam, the flight departs from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) before continuing to Helsinki on KLM Royal Dutch Airlines for $2,476. Finally, the Star Alliance route is operated one way by Lufthansa from Seattle to Frankfurt Airport (FRA) before going to Helsinki, with a complicated return. For $2,499, flyers would return from Helsinki through Munich Airport (MUC), then on to Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and finally Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
No matter which premium fare you decide to book, your price is considerably lower compared to other seasonal data. The sub-$2,500 flights are over $1,700 cheaper than usual for the New Year holiday according to Google Flights. The estimated regular price for a week in Helsinki usually ranges between $3,700 and $5,600. But as with all premium flight deals, the prices are subject to change without notice or warning.
If you live near or can position to Seattle, this flight may be a cheap and easy way to get a European holiday and reap the rewards of business class.
