Flight Deal: Fly Business Class From Los Angeles to Australia for $2,600 Round-Trip

FlyerTalkers planning to fly from the U.S. to Australia may have a chance to get there in a premium cabin for under $3,000. Flyers found a great deal aboard Xiamen Airlines for around $2,600, departing from Los Angeles to Sydney, with stops in China each way.

Springtime in Australia is one of the best times to visit the “Land Down Under.” And thanks to FlyerTalkers’ sharp eyes, you may be able to get there and back in business class for under $3,000 per person! Discovered by FlyerTalker jfkeze, business-class fares are currently available in September, October and November 2019 for under $2,600 per person.

The fares are for Chinese carrier Xiamen Airlines, aboard their Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The flights depart from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and include up to two layovers in airports including Qingdao International Airport (TAO) or Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport (XMN).

While Xiamen Airlines’ website offers very little information about the in-flight experience, FlyerTalkers have good reviews of their experiences aboard the aircraft. Even though they were flying in economy, FlyerTalker wlau wrote a glowing review of their cabin experience as a Delta SkyMiles Diamond Medallion flyer.

“Wonderful service in the air, even in economy,” they wrote. “After boarding, purser came to me with a gift bag and thanked me for my loyalty…They also repeatedly checked on me during the flight for any special needs. This happened on both of my flights, so it’s not a fluke.”

“The service is pretty good, the food decent [and] the staff is very [helpful],” FlyerTalker orseo wrote about their business class experience. “Everything is new on the plane.”

Those who do end up making the trek to Sydney will have no shortage of things to experience. Our travel experts recommend staying at the Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park, the Sydney Harbour Marriott Hotel at Circular Quay, or the Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach in Sydney. And those who want to get the best view of the Sydney skyline should consider taking the BridgeClimb Sydney: a 439-foot climb to the top of the Harbour Bridge.

Word of caution… you’re connecting in China and may be subject to involuntary detention by the government, even though you may be eligible for a visa-free transit/visit in the country.

via China is an awfully long way to go from LAX to SYD. There are some extra flights being put on in DEC via Fiji. Fiji air from 1 Jan 2020 have brand new A359s on the route LAX/NAN/SYD daily (except Tuesdays, the LAX/NAN is an A330) Much shorter way from LAX to SYD - about 3 hours longer with 2 hours on ground in Fiji, however a Fiji stopover for under 72 hours incurs no Fiji departure tax which is substantial. Stopover breaks up the long haul as well.
