Flight Attendant Sues American for Failing to Investigate Coworker’s Attack

Flight attendant Kathy Ida Wolfe is suing American Airlines for breach of contract for the carrier’s failure to follow up on an incident in which she claims she was physically assaulted by a coworker, fellow flight attendant Laura Powers, aboard a flight in front of passengers.

Wolfe claims that Powers “maliciously dug her fingernails into my arm, and slammed the door of a beverage cart on my arm,” as well as “grabbed my scarf, choking me, and dragged me in the aisle and in front of the passengers.”

Wolfe is seeking $1 million in damages. A spokesperson for American Airlines did not comment directly on the allegations, but asserted that “American strives to create a work environment in which all team members feel safe and respected.”
