Business Class Flights from New York to Auckland for Around $3,000

Have your bags packed for New Zealand? FlyerTalkers have found a deal from New York to Auckland for just over $3,000 round trip.

Perhaps best known as the land where Lord of the Rings was turned into a blockbuster film, Auckland, New Zealand holds many different treasures for the enthusiastic traveler. And thanks to other FlyerTalkers, you may be able to experience the trip for around $3,000.

FlyerTalker J2simpso posted on May 3, 2019 about a fare between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Auckland Airport (AKL) built in Google Flights. While the flight is aboard Air China and includes a lengthy stopover at Beijing Capital Airport (PEK), it shouldn’t be a problem to transit through the country to and from your island destination.

For those counting miles towards elite status, the R-code flights should count 100% towards Premier Qualifying Miles for United Airlines MileagePlus elites and 125% redeemable miles towards your next discounted trip. For other Star Alliance programs, check to see how many elite qualifying miles and redeemable miles you could earn with an R-code flight.

When it comes to staying in Auckland, FlyerTalkers have strong opinions on their favorites. While it may feel like standard accommodations, many recommend the Hilton Auckland Hotel for its view of the harbor and walking distance to major city attractions. Also, many had praise for Hotel Sofitel Auckland, for its higher-end room design and easy walking distance to restaurants and bars.

Fiji air just announced they are getting 2 x A350s which will start flying 1st January 2020. This will increase seats SYD/LAX/SYD direct by around 380 per week, which should lead to cheaper fares. The flight is direct with stop in Fiji. The A350s fly SYD/NAN/LAX & back every day, except on Tuesdays, it only flies SYD/NAN & NAN/LAX is on a fairly new A332 or A333. So flight from LAX to NAN connects with their flights to NZ(Auckland, Wellington & Christchurch). Auckland is a few times a day, whereas the other are a few times a week. If you stopover in Fiji for less than 72 hours, you don't pay fiji departure tax of FJD$200/adult which is very roughly USD$95
