Fired Airline Employee Attacks Plane

An employee of Russian airline Utair was caught on video allegedly defacing a Yak-40 aircraft with a large digger after being fired by their employer. The digger slammed into the aircraft multiple times, ripping large holes through the surface of the airplane. There is speculation that the destruction of the Yak-40 was planned by Utair, however, and one comment on the uploaded video read: “The second-hand Yak-40 price is less than 5 million rubles (£52,000), maybe they aren’t worth selling or nobody wants to purchase them. Besides, looks like the engines have already been repurposed.”

Leave it to FlyerTalk to repost articles without looking into the legitimacy of the article first. That plane already had it's engines removed. It was being scrapped. Way to buy into the sensationalism.
