Fight Breaks Out Aboard American Flight Over Wearing Face Masks

More problems are being documented aboard flights, over the airline policy requiring all flyers to wear a face covering throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. A video posted on Twitter showcased a fight between flyers, as one would not comply to the face mask policy. American acknowledged the incident, calling the passenger “disruptive.”

As airlines tighten their COVID-19 face covering policies, more flyers are lashing out against them – leading to a fist fight aboard an American Airlines flight departing Las Vegas McCarren International Airport (LAS) to Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). The video was posted to Twitter, showing one customer fighting with another over the face mask policy.

Flyer Asked to Leave Aircraft After Becoming “Disruptive”

The 12-second clip was posted to Twitter by flyer Caryn Ross. According to her account, the two passengers started pushing and shoving, leading to a fist-fight aboard the flight allegedly over the carrier’s face mask policy.

The airline recently tightened their face covering requirements, after banning face coverings that include exhaust valves on the front. Public health authorities note that masks that have a vent on them may not prevent the spread of COVID-19. Moreover, those who have contracted the disease may be able to spread the novel Coronavirus, even if they are asymptomatic.

In a statement to Fox News, the airline confirmed the incident happened, and that the flyer was removed from the aircraft. The Fort Worth-based airline did not note if the passenger in question was added to their internal ban list.

“On Monday, a customer on American Airlines Flight 1665 with service from Las Vegas to Charlotte failed to comply with our mandatory face-covering policy after boarding the aircraft prior to departure,” the statement reads. “In accordance with our policy, the customer was subsequently asked to leave the aircraft and became disruptive, resulting in an altercation with other passengers.”

Airlines Adopt “Zero Tolerance” On Face Masks

Regardless of which airline you are flying, all of the U.S.-based carriers have made it clear: flyers must wear face coverings, or choose another way to get to your destination. While Delta Air Lines says they have banned over 100 flyers due to their face mask policies, Alaska Airlines is warning those who do not wear a face covering while aboard the aircraft may have their entire itinerary cancelled upon landing.

However, the policy isn’t without its problems. In August 2020, a mother of an autistic child called foul against Southwest Airlines for removing them from a flight because the three-year-old would not wear a face covering aboard their flight.

Idiots. Cloth masks don't help and actually hurt because they trap what you're exhaling and provide a nice, warm environment for things to grow. Why didn't the airline remove the jackhole who felt the need to be an "enforcer"? Wear them if you're the type to spit or cough on people. Wear them if the security theater makes you feel better. But quit being a Nazi to those who know better. A private company has the right to decide, but an individual does not have the right to puff up their SJW chest and demand another comply.

None of these measures work to prevent anything. Do they potentially reduce the spread? Yes. But do you know what truly prevents it? Stay away from people--people are the carriers. This is where distancing requirements help much more, like what Delta is doing. Still, I saw everyone bunch up when exiting the plane like normal even when they were told to distance and Delta did nothing--on 4 different legs. This is nothing short of stupidity and is life threatening imo. My father more than likely will pass away from a covid pneumonia. And we never left the house. He and I were most likely exposed at the same time, but I ended up negative and he ended up positive. My flight was after his diagnosis. People simply do not care that they are killing others. This is what the world has become. And I'm not proud to be a part of it. Human beings sucks. If people only see what protections are used inside of an icu room of someone being treated for covid they would understand what real protection is. I wore a mask, face shield, body apron, and gloves over my cuffs when I visited my dad yesterday. And even then there is a risk of exposure. Mask protection is a joke unless used properly which 99% of people do not. A real solution would be some sort of covid negative 'passport' that allows flying, but then testing is so unreliable that there would be fakes and positive people slipping through such a system. 'The only solution is not to play.' Stay home and wait it out.

I think chipmaster's point was that there are masks in that test that performed even worse than a valved N95, such as a bandana. Will the airlines prevent people from using a bandana or neck gaiter from flying, even though those have worse performance than the valved mask? Maybe they do, I honestly have no idea. Based on what I see out and about town here, "cloth face covering" is the requirement which means plenty of people using bandanas which, according to the lined study, don't do a whole lot of good.

@jjmoore The mystery is how anybody can still be saying "masks don't work". Can you spit through your mask? No, you can't, because it works to contain droplets coming out of your nose and mouth. How on Earth you can fail to understand something so simple is beyond comprehension. Oh well, most people in this world are ignorant, so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised by anything other than your arrogant defense of such ignorance.

How funny to watch all of the sheeple fighting over these useless masks. Quite entertaining.
