As new legislature making COVID-19 vaccinations a requirement for air travel is introduced, one of the CDC’s top leaders reportedly says he would support a mandate. In preview audio, Dr. Anthony Fauci said he would get behind such a requirement for air or rail travel.

One of the leading voices during the COVID-19 pandemic is reportedly saying that a vaccine requirement for those aboard commercial flights is a good idea. The Hill reports Dr. Anthony Fauci is verbally supporting the mandate – which may ultimately become federal law.

“If you want to get on a plane and travel with other people…you should be vaccinated”

The comments come from the podcast “Skimm This,” which is set to be released on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2021. When asked, Dr. Fauci noted that he would be behind a travel vaccination obligation.

“I would support that,” Dr. Fauci said, as quoted by The Hill. “If you want to get on a plane and travel with other people that you should be vaccinated.”

The doctor’s comments come as a U.S. Representative from Virginia is seeking to make vaccinations and regular COVID-19 testing a part of the air and rail travel experience. On Sept. 10, 2021, Democratic Rep. Don Beyer of Virginia introduced House Resolution 5204, which would seek to “require certain passengers, employees, contractors, and subcontractors of Amtrak and air carriers to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or a negative test for COVID-19 for certain transportation or employment.”

Tentatively named the “Safe Travel Act,” the bill has been referred to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. The exact text of the bill is yet to be released, which could detail how the potential mandate would be enforced.

Despite the bill’s introduction, the airline industry is fearing another revenue drop into the Autumn season, as travelers grow concerned about the COVID-19 Delta variant. Airlines for America, the organization made up of U.S.-based carriers, has not yet commented on the H.R. 5204.

With Deaths Climbing, Total Number of Vaccinated Americans Continue to Increase

As fears of another wave of the virus could cross the country, the number of deaths and vaccinated adults continues to grow in the United States. According to data from the Centers for Disease Control, the number of adults with at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine now sits at 75.7 percent, while the death toll is over 656,000 and trending upwards.

It's a disgrace to read some of the ignorant comments here. We have a broken nation- people who are incapable of understanding basic science. Instead of jumping on the "political" (read-- demagogue) wagon perhaps you can turn off Faux and read about how COVID is transmitted.

Interesting comments from the man who funded the creation of the virus. When science and politics mix, the outcome is predictable.

PaulMSN- Please comment with fact not the assumption that you have been fed by major media. To say that vaccines are superior to naturally acquired immunity is misleading at best, criminal at worst. Here is a study done in Israel about the delta variant. I am fairly confident that you won't read it, because Fauci hasn't told you to do so. Therefore I will summarize it for you. https://www.timesofisrael.com/study-covid-recovery-gave-israelis-longer-lasting-delta-defense-than-vaccines/ "The variant was 27 times more likely to break through Pfizer protection from January-February and cause symptoms than it was to penetrate natural immunity from the same period." "People who had two vaccine shots had a six-fold higher chance of getting infected with Delta than patients who hadn’t been vaccinated but previously contracted the coronavirus, according to the research."

How about using “The Glass House” policy? Mandate the vaccine for everyone in DC taking a government check before mandating the vaccine for anyone else?

SimonT007 -- You forgot to read all the articles about the Delta variant. Your cause-effect is extremely faulty.
