Family Gets Booked on Virgin Atlantic’s Pride Flight & They Have the Best Reaction

Last Friday, a family found themselves at the center of Virgin Atlantic’s Pride Flight celebrations. The Powells booked their tickets in fall of 2018 and were told by Virgin that their service had been designated as the carrier’s Pride Flight, but they opted to keep their seats and had a great time.

Last Friday, a British family found themselves at the center of Virgin Atlantic‘s Pride Flight celebrations, reports Metro.co.uk. Kerry and Sean Powell, along with their two sons Calum and Cody,  had booked their tickets back in September of 2018 and were told the next month by the carrier that their service from London to New York had been chosen to celebrate LGBTQ+ culture.

But rather than re-book their seats on another plane, the family joined in the fun and celebrations onboard Virgin Atlantic Flight 0069, which was designated to honor the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising.

Featuring a selection of live in-flight entertainment from an array of DJs and drag acts, Kerry Powell gave her verdict on the flight, saying, “It was brilliant, the kids enjoyed it and the eight hours flew by.”

Tickets for the flight sold out within 24 hours of being offered to the public and the outlet reports that many of the passengers on the service were traveling to take part in the NYC Pride 2019 celebrations.

Speaking out about this one-off experience, Mark Anderson, Virgin Group’s Global LGBTQ+ Lead, was quoted as saying, “At Virgin, we take our commitment to diversity and inclusion seriously. We also know how to put on a seriously fun party. To mark this momentous anniversary in the history and future of LGBTQ+ rights, we wanted to do everything possible to give customers the Pride experience of a lifetime.”

Haha! That's great. I once booked a stay at a resort that was hosting a drag weekend. I thought it'd be too much, but turns out I had a blast at the poolside drag shows. Watching a big Britney Spears drag queen shove people into the pool while lip synching "Oops I Did it Again" was quite an experience.
