Family Booted From American Airlines Flight Due To “Body Odor”

Recently, a Detroit family on vacation in Miami, Florida was kicked off of their American Airlines flight after they claim a flight attendant told them that their fellow seatmates had complained about their collective body odor as the flight was set to depart Miami International Airport (MIA).
“We stopped several people in the airport and, it’s embarrassing, but we asked them, ‘Do you think we smell? Because we just got kicked off a plane for smelling,'” said Jennie Adler. She, her husband Yossi and their two children, are confirmed to have safely made it back to Detroit. The family remains confused and frustrated with not having been given what they believe to be an honest answer about their removal.

Going to the media complaining “We were thrown off an airplane because passengers and crew said we had bad body odor” is a terrible life decision. Anytime a prospective employer or client Googles their names, this will be the first result to come up. You may honestly think that you don't smell bad, but there are any number of minor ailments that can affect your sense of smell. Unfortunately, if other people say you smell bad, and you don't think you smell bad, you probably do smell bad. And seeking media coverage only insures that this unpleasantness will follow you for years. There is an old saying, “if somebody offers you a mint, take the mint.” Nobody is comfortable telling another person they smell bad. If you smell bad enough to overcome that natural reluctance, wash your clothes and shower.
