FAA Lifts Flight Restrictions on Turkey

Coming on the heels of political turmoil in Istanbul on Friday, The Federal Aviation Administration has decided to lift its restriction on flight arrivals from Turkey. Due to the attempted military coup in the nation’s capital last week, the FAA had barred all airline carriers from flying into the United States from Turkey, either directly or through a third country, and all scheduled Turkish Airlines flights to the U.S. will commence starting today, with Turkish Airlines’ Istanbul–New York flight set to depart at 6:45 AM.  “Earlier today I stated that we saw no reason for the ban as all precautions were in line with the norms,” said lker Aycı, chairman of Turkish Airlines. “Following our recent report and intense meetings, FAA removed the ban as expected.”
