On Tuesday, Etihad Airways said in a statement that it would be assisting the Australian Federal Police with an investigation into an “Islamic-inspired” terror plot to bring down a commercial aircraft. Last weekend, four suspects were arrested as part of a raid in suburban Sydney in connection with the alleged plot.
“The Etihad Airways aviation security team is assisting the Australian Federal Police with its investigation and the matter is ongoing,” the Etihad statement said in part. “Etihad is complying fully with the enhanced security measures at airports in Australia and monitoring the situation closely.”
