Emirates Announces New First-Class Product: “Commercially Viable” Mini-Suites

Emirates will soon introduce new first-class seating with added privacy features, including “railway” cabin inspired mini-suites.

Crave privacy when you fly? Well, for those who take advantage of Emirates’ exclusive first-class products, more privacy is on the way. Bloomberg reports the UAE flag carrier will soon begin overhauling its top-tier seating to offer additional personal space at a “commercially viable” price point.

The new first-class product was reportedly inspired by “railway” private cabins and will have the feel of a luxury bedroom in the sky. Although few details of the new product have been announced, Emirates is delivering on its promise of a more exclusive experience, offering more privacy than ever before.

“It’s all about privacy. That’s very much in our current First Class private suites product, and our new bedroom concept will take it to the next level,” said Emirates CEO Tim Clark, discussing development of the new product at an event in May 2014. “We’re talking fully enclosed rooms, with all the touches and amenities that you’d expect in hotel or a private bedroom on a luxury yacht, room service and so on.”

According to Gulf News, the current first-class suites on Emirates aircraft cost upwards of $500,000 each to deliver and install. The new suites will be installed on the carrier’s fleet of Airbus A380 and Boeing 777. Emirates declined to say who designed the new suites, how much they cost or when installation would be finalized.

The feel of a luxury bedroom in the sky? Great, i think that people which can afford this should be able to buy this service! How many people will really use it, is off course an other question. I am curious to see it. Regards, Hiranjgarbh K K Missier

500k for an entire suite while AA is paying 300k just for lie flat seats??? either someone is lying through their teeth or someone is getting bent over hard!

Hopefully the fully-enclosed suites come with surround speakers, or at least something more open than headphones.

Can't wait to see what they come up with to compete with Etihad. I also imagine they'll try and compete on the LHR route, so I can try and give it a go soon after launch. As a pedantic point: "said Emirates CEO Tim Clark, discussing development of the new product at an event in May 2014." You mean May 2015?
