EEOC Files Lawsuit Against United for Sexual Harassment Claims

According to a lawsuit filed by the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, a female flight attendant employed by United Airlines was sexually harassed and intimidated by a male pilot for years while employed at the carrier – the pilot’s behavior allegedly included posting “sexually explicit images of a United flight attendant to various websites, making reference to the flight attendant’s name, home airport, and sometimes referencing the airline’s tagline ‘Fly the Friendly Skies.'”

According to the EEOC lawsuit, the flight attendant filed a number of complaints about this behavior and provided evidence only for the carrier to fail “to prevent and correct the pilot’s behavior.”
