Flight Attendant: Control Your Child or Pay A Cleaning Bill

EasyJet has apologized for an incident in which a crew member was filmed telling a family to seat their child or pay a “cleaning bill”. The incident was captured on film by reality star Luisa Zissman and involved a child who was standing upright in his seat during a flight between France and the UK.

EasyJet has apologized for an incident in which a member of cabin crew ordered a family to seat their child or pay for a “cleaning bill”, The Independent reports. The incident occurred on a recent flight from France to the UK and was captured on film by British reality TV star Luisa Zissman—who was once a participant on the UK version of The Apprentice.

According to Zissman, who shared the encounter via social media, the family was informed that their child wasn’t permitted to stand upright in his seat during the course of the flight.

Here is the @easyjet jobsworth woman. Such bad form. For the record the seatbelt sign was NOT on, this family were not English & their English was limited. It was totally out of order intimidating behaviour. The little boy was about 2 and standing on the seat facing backwards to see his family in the row behind. He wasn’t crying or making any noise or fuss, poor little mite & poor parents! . . re all the comments about safety – she’s telling the child to stand on the floor in the footwell of the seat but not ON the seat, it’s nothing to do with sitting down or safety! If there was an air pocket or turbulence he would have still been hurt standing in the footwell. This is about throwing her weight around and being bossy! There are ways to speak to paying customers and I’m not sure this is it. 🤔🤔😲😲 . . Everyone knows how hard a flight is with a toddler let alone having some idiot harass you. The first thing she said which I sadly didn’t get on camera was “IF YOU CAN’T CONTROL YOUR CHILD AND STOP HIM STANDING ON THE SEAT I WILL FINE YOU £100 FOR CLEANING” the little boy didn’t even have shoes on!! There are ways to approach and speak to paying customers and this is not one of them! . .Travelling with children is so stressful, all the bollocks about safety was a load of crap so she could attempt to justify her disgusting power trip. Give someone an orange uniform and BAM 💥 . . .

In an excerpt of the footage, as quoted by the outlet, the cabin crew member allegedly says, “You are an adult. You are in charge of him. You need to make sure he is safe. I need to make sure he is safe.

Zissman has also said that the family were informed that they would be given a £100 ($120) cleaning fine if the child refused to sit down.

Speaking out about the incident, a spokesperson for the airline said, “It is clear from the video the crew member is concerned for the safety of the child so requested that they either stand on the floor or sit on the seat. We don’t charge customers for cleaning.”

We are sorry if the manner in which the crew member explained this caused offense,” they added.

I’m with the flight attendant. Child should be seated. It’s a pity they don’t send out cleaning bills too, it might make people a bit more careful of the surroundings they share with others. As for reality “star”. used to be when “star ” meant something rather than an odd appearance on the box.

He’s right, it’s not about safety. it’s about SANITATION! I don’t want to sit where anyone has had their dirty feet or shoes. Feet and shoes stay on the floor – regardless of age.

I’m with the FA on this one. Too many parents fail to control their kids, then get butt hurt when they get called out. Also, airlines should charge cleaning fees if people mess up the plane. Taxis charge it, so why not?

Another one here who is with the FA on this matter. Parents need to control their children and nowhere is it acceptable for the kid to stand one someone else’s upholstery without permission.

Seats are for sitting, not standing on, that’s what floors are for. Who knows what the child may have stepped in, urine in the lavatory, dog poo on the way to the airport? Parents need to start being parents and set boundaries.
