Drunk Passenger: “What Are You Going to Do? Turn This Plane Around?”
A man from Massachusetts traveling to Florida from Boston was recently arrested after a JetBlue flight where he was allegedly drunk, acting with disorderly conduct, and using vulgar language toward one of the flight attendants.
On Saturday, a man from Holbrook, Massachusetts, was arrested once getting off a flight from Boston to Fort Myers. Terence Joseph Gallagher was traveling on JetBlue Flight 1165 when he allegedly caused a disturbance due to alcohol.
According to the flight crew, Gallagher was intoxicated and asked for more alcohol, but the flight attendants refused to give it to him. He then became belligerent and started to swear at one of the flight attendants, who asked him to refrain from using vulgar language. According to WCVB, Gallagher then allegedly said, “What are you going to do? Turn this plane around and go back to Boston?”
Gallagher also changed his story about how much alcohol he’d had, telling one flight attendant that he’d had one before takeoff and another that he hadn’t had any. In the police report on file, Gallagher admitted to having had three beers before boarding the plane, telling officers “it just takes the edge off before I fly.”
The report also says that Gallagher was drunk and swearing loudly as police walked him through the terminal. Once arrested, he posted his $1,600 bond, but will need to return for a court appearance and arraignment on April 10. He was officially charged with disorderly conduct, interfering with the operation of an aircraft, and disorderly intoxication.
