Drone Nearly Hits Lufthansa Jet Near LAX

A Lufthansa Airbus 380 approaching Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) this afternoon nearly collided with a drone which was flying just 200 feet over the aircraft. According to the Los Angeles Times, “the near-miss was reported before 2 p.m. about 14 miles east of the airport at an elevation of 5,000 feet.”

The L.A. police and sheriff’s officials are on a hunt for the owner of the unmanned aircraft. Los Angeles police Lt. Robert Binder said that it would be “a long-shot search.”
