Delta SkyMiles Now Redeemable for Private Jet Service

Atlanta-based carrier first to allow flyers to redeem miles for pre-paid private jet travel.

Flyers loyal to Delta Air Lines’ SkyMiles program just received a brand-new perk intended to upgrade their travel to a whole new level. In a press release, the Atlanta-based carrier announced flyers can now redeem their SkyMiles for pre-paid travel on Delta’s fleet of private jets with a Delta Private Jet Card starting today, October 25, 2016.

“With this new option, SkyMiles becomes the only major airline loyalty program to provide its members the opportunity to redeem miles for a private jet experience,” Karen Zachary, managing director of the SkyMiles program at Delta, said in a press release. “We are committed to finding ways to make the SkyMiles program even more rewarding for our Members, from buying a drink in a Delta Sky Club to redeeming miles for private jet service.”

With the new program, flyers can exchange a minimum of 2.5 million SkyMiles for a $25,000 Jet Card, redeemable for private jet travel to the destinations flown by Delta. Pre-funding the Jet Card allows travelers to simplify the booking process and guarantee the availability of a private jet to their destination. Delta Private Jets offers four classes of jets available to flyers, with guaranteed availability in as little as ten hours. In addition, the Jet Card can be used to pay for Delta commercial flights as well.

The private jet experience is another addition from Delta to how flyers use miles in their program. In May, the airline announced flyers could use their miles to bid on once-in-a-lifetime experiences through SkyMiles Auctions.
