Delta Sky Club Celebrates Kansas City Lounge Opening

Delta marked the opening of its new Sky Club lounge at Kansas City’s refurbished airport terminal -- the first airline lounge at the upgraded terminal.
As part of an upgraded passenger experience at Kansas City International Airport (MCI), The Delta Sky Club network celebrated the opening of its lounge at Kansas City International Airport (MCI) on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.

The carrier hopes that this launch at MCI will strengthen its regional ties across the Midwest.

New Lounge, New Facility

At present, it is the only carrier lounge located in the newly refreshed facility and – after the opening of the Delta Sky Club at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) in October 2022 – the second Delta Sky Club location to be opened within the greater Midwestern region. The carrier hopes that the opening of this latest lounge will strengthen its regional presence at MCI, which is a burgeoning market for Delta. It currently operates daily connections to all of its hubs from Kansas City.

Whether they want to relax, socialize or work before their flights, the 11,200 square-foot Delta Sky Club lounge has seating space for around 200 guests plus bar and buffet facilities. While the space itself is decorated with a range of curated artwork, guests can also enjoy stunning views of MCI’s airfield thanks to two Sky Decks. This recently opened lounge space is located in the heart of MCI’s refurbished 39-gate terminal, which is now fully accessible from curb to gate and features an enlarged security area.

Lounge Opening at MCI Part of Wider Regional Expansion

Commenting on the launch in a statement, Claude Roussel, Managing Director – Delta Sky Club, said, “The Delta Sky Club team is thrilled to welcome customers in Kansas City – our first new market in several years. We are proud to be a part of the new MCI, elevating this remarkable transformation with our signature lounge experience.”

But the carrier’s ambitions don’t stop at MCI; a third Delta Sky Club lounge is due to open in Minneapolis in April and 2023 should see a grand total of eight expansions or openings across the network.
