Delta Seeks 1,000 Attendants

Online reality series seeks to entice new employees to join.
If you have one year of work experience in customer service, patient care or safety training, and are at least 21 years old and can speak a second language, you could be qualified to work at Delta Air Lines. The Atlanta-based carrier announced they are seeking to fill 1,000 flight attendant vacancies in the next year.
While working as a flight attendant is often considered stressful work, Delta wants to bring back the glamour of flying around the world with their airline. To give potential employees a look at what it takes to get paid to travel, the carrier is launching a 20-episode reality series straight to YouTube. Each episode takes a look at a different aspect of earning the coveted Delta uniform wings.
“There’s no doubt we hire the best of the best because the caliber of people wanting to work for our great airline is top-notch, ” Allison Ausband, Senior Vice President of In-Flight Service at Delta, said in a statement. “They see that what makes Delta different is our people and the unique culture we share together, and they want to be part of that winning team.”
Although there are plenty of vacancies at the airline, joining them will not be an easy task. In 2016, Delta reports that over 150,000 people applied for 1,200 flight attendant jobs, selecting less than one percent of those interviewed. In comparison, over five percent of applicants to Harvard University are accepted for enrollment.
