Delta Puts Kibosh on Dreamliner Order

On Tuesday, a spokesperson for Delta Air Linesconfirmed that it would be canceling an order for 18 Dreamliners from Boeing. The previous order came as part of the carrier’s merger with Northwest in 2008.

“Delta is one of the world’s largest operators of Boeing aircraft and our valued partnership with Boeing will remain strong as we safely and comfortably serve our customers across the world every day,” said Greg May, Delta’s Senior Vice President, Supply Chain Management and Fleet, in a statement. “This business decision is consistent with Delta’s fleet strategy to prudently address our widebody aircraft needs.”
