Delta Opens New Sky Club at Chicago O’Hare

Starting October 12, 2022, Delta Air Lines flyers can access the airline’s newest Sky Club in Terminal 5 of Chicago O’Hare International Airport – featuring 22,000 square feet of space and direct access to two gates.
Delta Air Lines is rolling out the red carpet at Chicago O’Hare International Airport for the official opening of their newest Sky Club, moving from Terminal 2 to Terminal 5.

The airline announced the $50 million, 22,000 square foot club will open for flyers on Tuesday, October 12, 2022.

New Space Offers Amenities for 400 Guests, New Food & Beverage and Gate Access

Moving the Sky Club to Terminal 5 puts Delta’s newest lounge in the same location as their SkyTeam partners, allowing those traveling internationally to experience the new space between flights. Travelers will be welcomed to the club accented with wrapped columns, signature lighting fixtures and stone countertops.

Adorning the walls of the new space is a variety of art curated from the airline’s collection alongside creations from Chicago-based artists. Featured in the lounge are large-scale neon art, sculptures, and mixed-media works.

The space will offer more amenities than a traditional domestic airline lounge, including four premium showers, privacy sound booths for calls and other work, alongside a family room for nursing mothers. Meals prepared for lounge guests include charcuterie boards, seasonal salads, sandwiches, hot entrees and vegetarian selections.

Of course, the bar is the centerpiece of any quality lounge and the Chicago O’Hare’s new Sky Club is no different. Alongside the standard fare of wine, beer, premium liquor and cocktails, the lounge will also feature a wine bar – the only one in Delta’s lounge network.

When it comes time to board, some lucky flyers won’t even have to leave the lounge to catch their flight. The lounge is connected to two boarding bridges, with gate areas integrated into the space behind the wine bar.

The Chicago lounge is the fourth new comfort space opened by Delta this year, and is one of the four biggest clubs operated by the airline. Similar sized lounges can be found at New York’s LaGuardia International Airport (LGA), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND).

Lounge Creates New Competition for Passengers at O’Hare

The new Sky Club may create new competition for hometown carrier United Airlines and their flagship lounge. In 2016, United opened the first Polaris Lounge at their headquarters hub, offering luxury amenities to international flyers in business class.
