Delta Flash Sale: U.S. to Europe Starting at 26,000 Miles

European cities have shown up on every respectable traveler’s must-see list, and you simply can’t pass up the opportunity to visit the continent with little out-of-pocket cost.

Delta Air Lines is having a limited-time SkyMiles Flash Sale for flyers itching to go to Europe for less. Round-trip award flights in economy class start at 26,000 SkyMiles for select departure cities. Just to put things in perspective, since Delta doesn’t publish award charts, a standard low-level award from the U.S. to Europe and back usually goes for 60,000 miles.

Travel dates vary for each city pair, although most of these deals fall in the autumn and winter months. The maximum stay is 30 days.

To lock in these reduced redemption rates, make sure to book your trip by 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 15 (Eastern Time).

San Francisco to London for 26,000 SkyMiles

Snag a flight from San Francisco to London with a stop in each direction for just 26,000 miles + $178. The taxes are a bit on the high end, but that’s to be expected from London. Admire the views of the Big Ben and the Thames from the London Eye, Europe’s tallest Ferris wheel, witness the changing of the guard on the forecourt of Buckingham Palace and have a pint at a London pub.

New York City to Rome for 34,000 SkyMiles

New Yorkers can fly nonstop to Rome by redeeming just 34,000 miles + $69. This is almost half of the regular redemption in miles! And don’t let the low season deter you from traveling. You’ll have an opportunity to see all the major museums and monuments, such as the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain and the Vatican museums, with minimal crowds. Besides, authentic Italian food still tastes the same in December.

Salt Lake City to Brussels for 40,000 SkyMiles

Book a trip from Salt Lake City to Brussels with one layover each way for 40,000 miles + $62 in taxes. While there, don’t miss the Grand Palace and stop by Manneken Pis, an iconic sculpture of a naked boy. Make sure to grab an authentic waffle and take a day trip to Bruges where you’ll find beautiful 14th-century architecture.

In the case of SFO-LHR, considering that you can buy a ticket on the example flights for $536 in regular Economy, I'm not sure that spending 26,000 miles (plus $188 in taxes) to save $348 is anything to write home about. A ticket in Basic Economy on said flights is only $375.
