Delta Flash Sale: Cheap Awards Flights to Alaska and Hawaii

Delta Air Lines is yet again offering special redemption rates on select award tickets, this time to Alaska and to Hawaii from the mainland United States.

During this limited-time sale, passengers can book round-trip award flights to Alaska starting at 20,000 Delta SkyMiles and award flights to Hawaii starting at 35,000 miles. Typically, low-level return tickets to Alaska cost 25,000 Skymiles, and low-level awards to Hawaii cost 45,000 SkyMiles.

To take advantage of the limited-time pricing, you have to act quickly and book your flights by 11:59 ET on Sept. 14. Travel is possible from Jan. 8 through March 23. Hawaiian destinations include Honolulu, Kahului, Kona and Lihue. Alaskan destinations include Anchorage and Fairbanks.

Here’s what the availability looks like for two people for flights from Los Angeles to Kona in February. Valentine’s Day in Hawaii? Done! And the carrier-imposed taxes are just $11.20 per person.

As far as award flights to Alaska, I was able to find some options for fewer SkyMiles than advertised in the promotion. For example, these flights from Denver to Anchorage are just 19,000 SkyMiles + $11.20 per ticket.

And these flights from Salt Lake City to Fairbanks also require just 19,000 SkyMiles, which presents an opportunity to see the beauty of the Last Frontier for less.

Delta runs flash sales on award tickets from time to time. They expire quickly, and if you have a stash of SkyMiles and a desire to visit one of the two far-away states, I don’t recommend thinking too long. These awards will go back to regular pricing shortly.

If someone has a desire to visit Hawaii, it can be done at any time of year. But if someone has a desire to visit Alaska, it's probably in the summer rather than between Jan 8 and March 23, no? So I don't understand why you say that if you have a desire to visit Alaska then this offer is for you. Only if you specifically have a desire to visit Alaska iN THE WINTER is this offer possibly for you.
